Client Complaint: Hard and expensive to heat.
This semi-detached house was built in the 1950's. It was a single leaf structure of cavity wall blocks apart from the brick façade at the front of the house, which had a cavity. We extended and renovated the house so it was transformed into an A rated home.
The main features of this house are:
- External insulation installed to the back and side of the house. The front cavity was filled with bonded bead cavity wall insulation, dry-lined and finished in a lime render.
- 250 mm of floor insulation was installed.
- New roof was built to 1st floor level and insulated
- Roof lights were installed to provide plenty of natural light.
- A-Rated boiler installed powering thermostatically controlled under floor heating and aluminium radiators. The house had five separate zones.
- Low energy lighting & LED dimmable spot lights installed throughout.
- Lunos ventilation system installed.
- The house achieved an air pressure result of 4.38 ach.
